Appellation: Barossa Valley
Varietal: 100% Shiraz
Hand-harvested and hand-sorted, fermented in stainless steel open top tanks. Temperatures were kept cool at the beginning of fermentation and then allowed to rise naturally in the traditional Rhone fashion. The juice and skins were punched down by hand daily. After fermentation, the wine was transferred into a selection of 2nd use and neutral French and American oak barrels for 14 months.
Location: Just a few km outside of Nuriootpa in the heart of the Barossa Valley, soils are deep, ranging from sandy to earthy red clay. Elevation 270 m (886 ft.).
Rainfall: Average rainfall is 500 mm (19.5 inches). A little less than half the rain is received during the growing season.
Viticulture: The vineyard blocks vary in age ranging back to century-old bush vines, still dry farmed today. Hand harvested.
A modern take on Barossa Shiraz. Layers of currant and dark plum fruit dance togetherwith black cherry and violet aromas. Features great presence and ample density without excess weight, as the finish sails on undisturbed by the tannins.
